Materials:
China plates in various sizes
Glass bowls or low jars
Two candlesticks for tiered cupcake display
Cup and saucer for marshmallow or cookie pops
Floral clay
Sprigs of fresh greens or flowers - rose, magnolia, nandina, spruce, or cedar
Ribbon and/or ornaments
Directions:
- For an impromptu cake display, place a large china plate on a low/wide glass bowl, vase or jar. Use a small dab of floral clay to secure the pieces together if movement is a concern.
- Create an inspiring cupcake or cookie service with three plates and two candlesticks. Place the largest plate on your serving table, and secure a tall candlestick to it with a few small portions of floral clay, place a smaller plate on the candlestick and repeat with a short candlestick and saucer. Be sure to use clay at every union to secure the pieces together. Ribbon, ornaments or fresh greens will hide any clay that is still visible after desserts are placed.
- A cup and saucer make the perfect container for a whimsical cookie or marshmallow pop display. Simply cut and place a cube of styrofoam in the cup to support the sticks, and then disguise it by covering with candies, greens or floral glass.
Notes:
For added decor, garnish your display with ribbon and ornaments or fresh flowers.
Any of these pieces can be made permanent with a few drops of clear epoxy adhesive, but floral clay will allow for easy disassembly and reuse another day.
Arrange this effortless yet impressive display with the kids while waiting for friends or family, and create a charming table of treats that is sure to be enjoyed by everyone who is home for the holidays this year!
